Balbisiana is a species with a round, bulbous base and flat, thin, and light green leaves which come out from the center. With age, the leaves grow quite long and will cascade down the sides of the plant. Balbisiana produces beautiful deep red blooms. As a comparison, we would say that they are similar to a Bulbosa plant but with less rigidity in their leaves. These are 9-12 inch beauties and are endemic throughout Central America, Northern South America, and the Caribbean.
